Here are just a few of the images and artists inspirations.

Vince Cleghorne with Kensington Junior Youth Inclusion Project - Superfive-a-day

super5dayThe design ideas belong to the young people of Kensington Junior Youth Inclusion Project helped by staff and community artist Vincent Cleghorne. Inspired by healthy lifestyle initiatives, Five-a-day is a very colourful display of fruit and vegetables.

Rachel Ward - Lambline

lamblineThe artist’s daily train journey into Liverpool gave her the idea to incorporate the train map into her design. The design gives information as well as something interesting to look at.

Helene-Marie Gilmour - Petite Fleur

fleurThis sartorial Superlambanana is designed to capture the environment of its sharply dressed surroundings - from the floral graphics, the diamante to the mirrors.

Finch – The Ideas Agency, produced by Candida Boyes - Top Banana

BananaTop Banana was created to echo the smart face of Liverpool's premier new business address. Candida Boyes arrived in Liverpool in 1986 to be Designer in Residence at Liverpool Playhouse, moving on to be Head of Design for Mersey Television, where her projects included Brookside and Hollyoaks. Candida is currently a freelance designer working on a diverse portfolio of projects for theatre, film, TV and the corporate sector.

Holly Langley - Our Working Community

CommunityHolly works within theatre, TV and community arts. She delivers creative workshops and projects that are aimed at encouraging children, adults and local community groups to enhance their creative skills and make something extraordinary. This design is inspired by the people of Liverpool - a community-based city; a multi-cultural city; a friendly city.

Paul Cousins – Cloudorama

clouddoramaPaul Cousins studied at The Liverpool School of Art where he was awarded the John Moores Scholarship on graduating in 1972. In 2007, he won the prestigious ‘Sefton Open’ with his painting entitled ‘Thin Air’ “I hope my design is in the spirit of the original SuperLambBanana. The design reflects of a panorama of clouds, the sky, the very air that we breathe. It is a reflection of a series of sky paintings that I have produced with an environmental subtext that highlights the threat we face as we continue to pollute and tamper with the earth's atmosphere.”

Amanda Oliphant – Superlambananatree

clouddoramaAmanda's art seeks to expose elements of daily life and environment that would otherwise go unnoticed. Placing tree forms onto a sculpture like the Superlambanana is an attempt to simply allow the public to reflect upon the landscape, the urbanisation of the city and the decreasing urban forests.

Alex Jackson – Purple Sky At Night

clouddoramaAlex Jackson is an artist and lecturer from Liverpool, his art is about contrast and conflict. He works in both traditional and digital sculpture. He lectures on Digital Film and Computer Games Design at Staffordshire University. Focussing on the world-famous Liverpool waterfront, this design captures the amazing Mersey skyline at night, emphasising its power and strength.

Olivia Simpson – Roy G Biv

clouddoramaOlivia’s mosaic design draws inspiration in part from the playfulness of Taro Cheizo's original artwork and also from the colourful, sculptural works of Niki de Saint Phalle. She has long been fascinated by the work of de Saint Phalle - whose first ever UK exhibition is being held at the Tate Liverpool in 2008.

Jaqueline Boylan – Culture Chalk

Jacqueline Boylan is a graduate of Dartington College of Arts. She works mainly in theatre and live art and likes to create work which is accessible yet challenging and engages new audiences. She said: “I wanted something that would be interactive, allowing the public to 'talk back' about the Year of Culture. What better than turning the Superlambanana into a chalkboard and inviting people to create the artwork by expressing their opinions?”
